ECCE
The Early Years Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Scheme is a government funded initiative that provides up to 2 FREE academic years of preschool to children who have turned 2 years 8 months before the beginning of September of the upcoming academic year. September is the only entry point for this scheme.
The child will be entitled to a preschool session of 3 hours per day, 5 days per week, over 38 weeks.
We run two ECCE sessions daily: 9am-12pm or 1.30pm - 4.30pm.
Additional hours can be accommodated at an extra cost.
Applying is easy, all you need is your child's PPS number and we will do the rest !
Places book up months in advance so try and register with us as soon as possible.
Community Childcare Subvention Plus (CCSP)
The Community Childcare Subvention Plus (CCS Plus) Programme provides support for parents on a
low income to avail of reduced childcare costs at participating privately owned childcare services and
at community not-for-profit childcare services; a list of these services is available through the
relevant local CCC. It also provides access to a universal payment (CCSU) available to eligible children. The Department of Children and Youth Affairs pays a portion of the childcare costs for eligible children
(a payment described in this document as a subvention payment) with the parent paying the
remainder.
National Childcare Scheme (NCS)
This is a scheme that provides financial support to help parents to meet the costs of childcare. The NCS will replace all existing targeted childcare support programmes and the current universal childcare subsidy by 2021. It gives financial support towards the cost of childcare for the hours spent outside of pre-school or school. The ECCE scheme will not be affected by the NCS and will continue to operate alongside the NCS.
Subsidies are paid directly to Longfield Academy, however you must apply for the subsidy yourself. We will then subtract your subsidy from your childcare bill.
There are two types of subsidies available under the National Childcare Scheme:
Universal Subsidies are available to all families with children under 3 years old. They are also available to families with children over 3 years who have not yet qualified for the free preschool programme (ECCE). This subsidy is not means tested and provides 50c per hour towards the cost of a registered childcare place for a maximum of 40 hours per week.
What you will need to apply online:
Income Assessed Subsidies are available to families with children aged between 24 weeks and 15 years. This subsidy is means tested and will be calculated based on your individual circumstances. Your rate will vary depending on your level of family income, your child’s age and educational stage, and the number of children in your family.
If you (and your partner, if you have one) are working, studying or training, the maximum number of subsidised hours available per week are 40.
If you (or your partner, if you have one) are not working, studying or training, the maximum number of subsidised hours available per week are 15.
In both cases the available hours include hours spent in school or preschool. The remaining hours can then be used for ‘wrap-around care’.
