Thank you very much!
On the 5th of May 2019, we had a surprise visit at Longfield Academy. Emma from Maxi Zoo Clonmel, arrived at 10am. Emma brought her little friend 'Bertie' with her. Bertie is a baby rabbit, he is only 3 months old. Bertie can be found in Maxi Zoo Clonmel. Bertie is looking for a nice family to take him to live with them. Bertie and Emma visited the Toddlers first. The Toddlers were very excited to see Bertie and couldn't wait to rub him. However, some of the Toddlers preferred to look at Bertie from a distance and one or two of them preffered to continue playing with their toys in the classroom. Bertie and Emma then visited the two morning preschool classes and came back later that day to visit the afternoon preschool class. The children were very curious as to what was in Emma's carrier. Emma first used some props and discussed with the children different pets such as a birds, cats, dogs and rabbits. The children told Emma all about the different pets they had at home and how they look after them. Emma and the children discussed about how we never touch an animal when they are eating as they might think you are taking their food away and get cross. The children also learned that we should never touch an animal that is sleeping as it might get of a fright. Emma then took Bertie out of his carrier and sat him on her lap. The children took turns at rubbing Bertie and commented on how "soft and fluffy" he was. The children were all very patient and waited for their turn. Each preschooler received a certificate that congratulated them on becoming an animal friend. All the children, staff and management at Longfield Academy would really like to thank Emma from Maxi Zoo Clonmel for giving us her time. Emma was fantastic with the children and Bertie was very friendly and well behaved.
Thank you very much!
